While TV on the Radio is on hiatus, guitarist and vocalist Kyp Malone has been focusing on his solo project, Rain Machine, releasing a self-titled debut album in late September on -ANTI.

Malone's Rain Machine is buoyed by TV on the Radio-like singles like the rambunctious "Give Blood" and "Smiling Black Faces," but there are also some dramatic, daring perambulations on the album, like the ten minute expanse of the acoustic "Winter Song," which slips from a folksy, strolling ramble, anchored by Malone's anguished bay, into a bluesy, throttled lament.

The Brooklyn-based Malone is currently on tour this month, with club gigs attached to his dates opening for The Pixies, but he dropped by The Alternate Side's Studio A to give us an exclusive live Rain Machine concert of "Leave the Lights On" and "Free Ride."
