Idiot's Delight host Vin Scelsa has worked in New York City for his entire radio career: At WFMU (1967-1969), WBAI (1969-1970), WABC-FM / WPLJ (1970-71), WNEW-FM (1973-1982; music director, 1975-76), and the years 1985 to 1996 saw the birth of 'Idiot's Delight' on WXRK. In 1996 Vin returned to his old home at WNEW-FM, where Idiot's Delight continued on Sunday nights until the end of 2000. In February 2001 he returned to public radio - at WFUV 90.7 FM - where he continues to broadcast his very unique program, still a free-flowing mix of music, monologue, live performance and interviews with a wide variety of guests.

In addition to his broadcasting work, Vin was the co-creator of the highly acclaimed series 'In Their Own Words: A Bunch Of Songwriters Sittin' Around Singing' at The Bottom Line in NYC (two albums of highlights from the series have been released on Razor & Tie Records) and served as the series' host from 1990 -1995. He was the music editor and monthly columnist for Penthouse magazine (1988-92) and the music/editorial director of Grooves CD & Magazine, a publication of Time-Life Music (1994-1996). He was the "voice" of the Independent Film Channel (IFC), a premium cable television service of the Bravo network, from 1994 to 1998.

Vin is a life-long resident of New Jersey, where he resides with his family deep in the suburban hills of Essex County, home of Studio V, from which he sometimes broadcasts on dark and stormy Saturday nights. He is associated with Luna Stage, a highly regarded professional Equity theater company in Montclair, N.J., where he frequently designs sound for their productions and serves as a music consultant; upon occasion he even does some acting. He was highly praised for his portrayal of Vladimir in the Luna Stage production of Samuel Beckett's classic Waiting For Godot. It is from Samuel Beckett that Vin Scelsa takes his life's credo: "I can't go on. I must go on."
