The Apache Relay

The Apache Relay - FUV Live - 2014

by Eric Holland

To open their self-titled second album earlier this year, The Apache Relay recorded something of a masterpiece in the song "Katie Queen of Tennessee."  Singer/guitarist Michael Ford Jr. and Brett Moore (keys/guitar/mandolin) were quick to share credit with the string arranger Jimmy Haskee (who has an Emmy and three Grammys) and Johnathan Rice (yes, the one from Jenny and Johnny and his own career), who they cold-called after getting out to L.A. to record at Fairfax Recordings.

The Apache Relay met in Nashville a couple of years ago and has been out on the road since, channeling the sounds of their hometown, Motown, and even Springsteen's 'Nebraska.' Hear the sounds of their new album 'American Nomad' as host Alisa Ali welcomes the guys to FUV. [04/11/2011]
