The Black Keys

Question of the Day: "I'm Sorry"

by Corny O'Connell

Over the weekend Jack White issued an "apology" for having made disparaging remarks about The Black Keys, Danger Mouse, Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Lana del Rey, and Adele behind their backs. Instead of making his begrudging mea culpa in prose, he should have just written them a song. Saying, "I'm sorry," in song has a long tradition. List some of your favorite examples in the comments below and we'll spin a set after 9am.

The eighth full-length album from The Black Keys comes out today and we are so excited about it that we made Turn Blue FUV's New Dig this week. The new record sees the duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney working again with Brian Burton as producer. The new songs still have that classic Black Keys grit but there is a more electronic feel to them now. Tonight on FUV Live we’ll hear some of the new material from the record and my conversation with Dan Auerbach about Turn Blue.

The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney started playing music as a duo in high school, and have stuck with the format ever since. The new album 'Attack & Release' does bring in a few new sounds and a new producer in Danger Mouse, and the guys recently spoke with Darren DeVivo about the changes during a live session at 'FUV.

As a producer and one half of The Black Keys, Dan Auerbach is already busy guy. But a solo record somehow fit into his non-stop schedule, as did a few more layers of sound. Hear the results on the album 'Keep It Hid' and in Dan's recent conversation with host Russ Borris at 'FUV. [2/6/09]
