The Heavy

The Heavy - Words and Music - 2008

by Russ Borris
The Heavy could be called 'retro' but they're definitely a rock band, incorporating influences from The Stooges to Curtis Mayfield with a little hip-hop on the side. The UK band's debut album 'Great Vengeance and Furious Fire' has now reached American audiences, and Russ Borris caught a few of the songs live when The Heavy stopped by WFUV.

The Heavy - Words and Music - 2010

by Alisa Ali
The Heavy have never met a genre they couldn't co-opt. Their first album, 'Great Vengeance and Furious Fire,' had samples of Harvey Keitel, Al Pacino, and soul records. For their second album, 'The House That Dirt Built,' they spoke with Alisa Ali about their re-interpretation of Screamin' Jay Hawkins and their sampling from low grade horror films, reggae music, and garage rock.
