Ivan and Alyosha

Ivan and Alyosha - FUV Live - 2013

by Carmel Holt

Despite what the name might imply, Ivan and Alyosha are not a duo. In fact, they are a band from Seattle who are named after two characters from the novel, The Brothers Karamazov.

But as Claudia Marshall put it back in 2001 when she interviewed them for their EP, Fathers Be Kind - "Pop music is as much an influence on the band as Dostoyevsky." You can hear that 2011 session by dipping into the FUV Vault.

You can also hear our most recent session with Ivan and Alyosha right here. I recently talked with the band about their new full length album, All The Times We Had and the band also performed a couple of the new song live in Studio A. Be sure to check out the videos from that session here too.

Ivan & Alyosha is a Seattle-based band that's named for two of 'The Brothers Karamazov,' but pop music is as much an influence as Dostoyevsky. Recently the band came by FUV to share a few songs from their latest EP, 'Fathers Be Kind,' with host Claudia Marshall.
