The Kennedys/Red Molly: November 1, 2007

I've enjoyed many sessions with both The Kennedys (long-time friends of FUV) and Red Molly (the trio formed at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2004), but have special fondness for this 2007 session when Pete and Maura Kennedy joined Abbie Gardner, Laurie McAllister, and Carolann Solebello in the studio, just as Red Molly was gaining popularity. They did some songs separately and then joined forces for an awesome jam on "Matty Groves."

The Kennedys & Red Molly - Words and Music - 2007

With the duo The Kennedys logging 'Half A Million Miles' and beyond, and the trio Red Molly forming out at Falcon Ridge, folk festivals are one source of common ground between the two groups. Another is a well of musicianship and energy that's made them favorites in the folk world, and this fall a joint tour also brought them to Studio-A for an interview with John Platt.
