Kim Richey

Kim Richey - FUV Live - 2013

by Rita Houston

Singer-songwriter Kim Richey has never really thought of herself as country artist, but she's been categorized that way for years.  Recently, Richey decided to embrace the genre and set out to record a collection of (what she considered to be) country songs for her latest album, Thorn In My Heart.  Ironically, reviews from music publications like PopMatters and AllMusic describe the songs as genre-defying, citing strains of Americana, folk and pop.

Regardless of how you describe her sound, it's clear that Kim Richey has a natural talent for storytelling with melody.
