Anyone who's ever listened to WFUV knows how we feel about Levon Helm.

To say we're admirers is just to skim the surface of the huge love and respect we have for him as an artist and a person, going back to his days with The Band and all the way through.

Larry Campbell - Words and Music - 2012

Larry Campbell is a master of guitar, violin and all things stringed and strummed. You might know him from his years touring with Bob Dylan, working as an A-list session player, or serving as the musical director of The Levon Helm Band. With the late, great Levon, Campbell joined a long list of artists to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International on the "Toast To Freedom" project, and Larry came by FUV to tell host Rita Houston all about it.

Question of the Day: Levon Helm

by Claudia Marshall

I've always felt that WFUV was a kind of radio home for Levon Helm.  His many visits to the station - and especially his appearance at our 2010 Gala honoring Levon's work with our "Sound and Vision" award created a feeling of family with the whole Helm clan.   So it was like a body blow to hear that his cancer is getting the upper hand.  Rather than wait until Levon leaves us, let's celebrate him with today's Question of the Day.  Your song picks and musical memories here:
