Lianne La Havas - Words and Music - 2012

by Alisa Ali

Her mother is Jamaican, her father is Greek, and her music is an accomplished hybrid of soulful British folk. Meet Lianne La Havas, whose debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough?, just came out this summer. It exhibits a quiet confidence that's something special when you consider that Lianne is only 23. She paid FUV a visit last month, just this week she was on Rolling Stone magazine's "Band to Watch" list, and she's also opened for Bon Iver and jammed with Prince. Unfortunately neither of them could make it to Studio A with Lianne, but as you'll hear, all she needs is her voice and a guitar.
