Stopping at the Hotel San Jose to do an amped-up set at the free SXSJ (South by San Jose) compound – she had some extra energy to burn after her big set at Stubb’s was cut short the night before – Lissie (@LissieMusic) came by backstage to chat with her WFUV friends. From here she was headed over to play at Perez Hilton’s party, which is doubtless the fewest number of separations we’d ever been from Perez Hilton.

Lissie's music is usually described as folk or Americana, but if you listen closely-especially to her covers of artists like Lady Gaga, Nelly Furtado, and Kid Cudi-you'll hear a lot of other influences too, along with a very powerful set of vocal cords. Lissie's full-length debut album Catching A Tiger is out now, and 'FUV's Alisa Ali talked with her backstage at a recent show at Manhattan's Hiro Ballroom.
