Mike Doughty - FUV Live - 2014

by Carmel Holt

The great Mike Doughty returned to FUV's Studio A today to share songs from his hip-hop-heavy new album, Stellar Motel, and chatted with us about working out the new songs with producer Good Goose -- as well as what the experience was like to document and share his creative process for fans who helped fund the project on PledgeMusic. As usual, Doughty brought his wit and good-natured outlook to the conversation, and in this acoustic setting, his masterful wordplay was right up front for us to enjoy.

Mike Doughty - FUV Live - 2013

by Carmel Holt

Used to be, Mike Doughty didn't play Soul Coughing songs. He didn't even want to talk about Soul Coughing. It was a dark period of his life/career that was better left where it was - in the mid-nineties. And his fans didn't seem to mind. Doughty has had a fantastic solo career thus far, with eight full length studio albums, and a bunch of EP's, plus a new memoir called The Book of Drugs, which, in part, explored the "dark, abusive marriage" that was his experience of Soul Coughing. But there was unfinished business there.

Question of the Day: Concert Pet Peeves

by Morning Show

Mike Doughty feels the live music industry isn't catering enough to the older crowd as he writes in his latest blog post- so this morning is your chance to voice your own pet peeves about concerts. Share your song suggestion in the comment section below.

1. "Waiting for the Sun" -The Jayhawks

2. "I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down" -Elvis Costello

3. "Money Grabbers" -Fitz and the Tantrums

Mike Doughty - Words and Music - 2011

by Alisa Ali
Former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty went the extra solo step by releasing his new album 'Yes and Also Yes' on his own label. He recently stopped by FUV and told host Alisa Ali about that process, and some details about the new songs. [7/21/11]
