Rufus Wainwright

Rufus Wainwright - FUV Live at Clearwater - 2014

The one thing in the every-changing career of Rufus Wainwright that has remained a constant is the purity of his voice.  It was no surprise that that voice was in fine form during his set at the Clearwater Festival.  Playing solo piano and acoustic guitar, Rufus played favorites like "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk," "I Don't Know What it Is" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."  A highly recommended listen, for sure!

Rufus Wainwright - FUV Live - 2013

by Carmel Holt
After the passing of the Canadian Folk Chanteuse Kate McGarrigle in 2010, her children Rufus and Martha Wainwright along with her sister and musical partner, Anna McGarrigle put on a series of concerts in London, Toronto and New York in her honor.

Some of the highlights from those performances were collected and released this past summer on the album, Sing Me the Songs: Celebrating the Works of Kate McGarrigle.

Rufus Wainwright graciously stopped by WFUV to share some of the music during this episode of FUV Live.

Rufus Wainwright - Words and Music - 2012

by Rita Houston

Rufus Wainwright's thoughtful chamber pop has been winning us over for years, and it sure shines brightly on his latest album, Out Of The Game, which was produced by Mark Ronson. Rufus recently visited FUV to share some of the songs, and he also spoke about all the curves in the road that have been influencing his work and life in recent years.

Fathers & Sons

by John Platt

This week the Sunday Breakfast celebrates Easter and Passover and the release of Adam Cohen's new CD. Adam will be my guest in Studio A, performing songs and relating what it's like to be the son of an icon, Leonard Cohen. Apparently he had something of an epiphany at the dinner table, with his son on one side and his father on the other, as he realized he wanted to make an album worthy of his father's legacy. The result was Like a Man, an album of intimate, authentic songs from start to finish.
