Travis - FUV Live - 2013

by Alisa Ali
Since forming in their hometown of Glasgow in 1990, the band Travis has received 2 BRIT awards for Best Band and a slew of critical praise. In talking about Travis’ front man, Chris Martin called himself the “Poor Man’s Fran Healy,” and said his band Coldplay was “invented” by Travis.
After spending so much time in the music business, the band learned the valuable lesson of spending quality time with their families. So after they were done touring for their 2008 album, Ode to J. Smith, Travis decided to take a few years off.
After that much-needed break, the band is back now with their 7th full-length album, Where You Stand. Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop of Travis recently stopped by Studio A to share some of the new songs and talk about the record for an FUV Live Session.

Fran Healy - Words and Music - 2010

by Claudia Marshall
Fran Healy has been the frontman of the multi-Brit Award winning Travis for fourteen years, and has a number of fans of his songwriting including Oasis' Noel Gallagher, Coldplay's Chris Martin, and Elvis Costello. For his solo debut, 'Wreckorder,' he got some contributions from Neko Case and Sir Paul McCartney which he discussed during a studio session with WFUV's Claudia Marshall. [8/23/10]
