by Alisa Ali

Irish musician, Conor O'Brien releases music under the moniker, Villagers. His 2010 debut, Becoming A Jackal was shortlisted for a Mercury Prize and the title track of the album won the 2011 Ivor Novello award for best song both musically and lyrically.

The latest album, {Awayland} is is equally as stunning as the first.

Conor O'Brien recently joined me in WFUV's Studio A to talk about the new record and play some of the new songs live in studio A. Tune in tonight at 9 to hear a conversation and performance with Villagers or listen here anytime. & Be sure to check out the videos of the performances too!

Villagers - Words and Music - 2010

by Rita Houston
Villagers is an atmospheric chamber folk project out of Dublin by Conor O'Brien, whose debut is drawing critical praise akin to that of the early work of U2 and The Frames. They received a 2010 Mercury Prize nomination for the album, 'Becoming a Jackal,' and Conor brought a full band to play some songs for WFUV's Rita Houston. [11/2/10]
