Wax Poetic

Wax Poetic at CMJ - Live Concert - 2012

by Kara Manning

One of many bands nurtured by the East Village club Nublu, New York's effortlessly-chill Wax Poetic has been around since the '90s, but the group has shifted lineups over the years. Guided by composer Ilhan Ersahin, the current incarnation of the band features Sissy Clemens and Gabriel Gordon, who were on hand for Wax Poetic's cool, silky set at WFUV and The Alternate Side's CMJ showcase on October 16.

What's Going On At Whole Wide World

by Marisa Frydman

Thank Goodness Its' Friday! We have a very exciting show lined up for the Whole Wide World tonight. Join Rita and I for a conversation with the legendary group, Tom Tom Club. Rocking out since 1981, the duo will be discussing their newly released EP, Downtown Rockers, as well as taking over the airwaves for a guest DJ set. Check out their new music video for the title track below. We will also be wrapping up coverage of this week's CMJ music festival by playing some of her favorite bands of the showcase including Savoir Adore and Wax Poetic.

by Kara Manning

WFUV and The Alternate Side's very first CMJ Music Marathon showcase takes place tomorrow, October 16, at the Living Room. We had a few questions to ask our four international bands — Copenhagen's Indians, Dublin's Little Green Cars and New York bands Savoir Adore and Wax Poetic — and they kindly offered up their views on everything from Brooklyn "myths" to not-to-be-missed CMJ acts.
