Hear an Alternate Side in Session with Johnny Marr.

Johnny Marr is most closely associated with his tenure in The Smiths, creating some of the most notable and long lasting guitar riffs in rock history. His 30-year-plus career, though, has taken him in a number of different directions with stints in Electronic, The Pretenders, The The, Modest Mouse and The Cribs as well as countless recordings as a session player.

Recently, Johnny has been concentrating on his own work and last year he released his second album as a solo artist, Playland. I had the great honor of catching up with Johnny backstage at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He was very forthcoming on a number of subjects, including his longevity, thoughts on new bands, and the music industry as a whole. It's a great chat with one of the most influential guitar players of all time. Oh, and if you're wondering, he does share his favorite riff!
