Gil Scott-Heron - Words and Music - 2007

by Claudia Marshall
Since writing poetry as a teenager and making his first foray into songs on 1970's 'Small Talk at 125th & Lenox,' Gil Scott-Heron's merging of message and music has influenced a range of activists and artists. Tonight, the 'Godfather of Rap' talks with Claudia Marshall about the motives and challenges of his continuing career, and performs a few songs live in Studio-A.
