Nneka was raised in Nigeria, but it wasn't until she went abroad to Germany that she started singing in earnest. Her first US release, 'Concrete Jungle,' brought her to Studio-A where she told FUV's Rita Houston, that while she may have started her career overseas-Africa and the activism of people like Fela Kuti are definitely a part of her music.
