Streaming FAQ
Can I listen to past shows? On-demand programs and performances are in the Audio Archives [WMP format]. You can hear the past 2 weekend shows, or a great list of studio performances or live concerts.
Can I listen on my phone? Yep! See the FUV On Your Phone page.
Can I see what song is playing now? We're working on it. You can see it for The Alternate Side, and we're working to bring that technology to the other channels. In the meantime, we do have a searchable list of song playlists on the web site - take note of what date and time you hear something, and you can look it up the next day.
Also in the meantime, there's a site that uses song-recognition technology to capture the playlists of many stations. They don't catch everything we play, but they get most. Search for WFUV and look for the Song Log on yes.com.
How can I hear Fordham sports events online? Fordham sports streams are here.
How much does streaming cost us? We pay for the bandwidth used by all listeners collectively. It would cost us more if you left it running all weekend, yes. Our online listeners contribute the funds we use to pay for streaming by becoming WFUV Members. Are you a Member yet?
Why no full-length albums on the stream? It's a copyright issue. During the CD of the Week, we stream other WFUV music.
Why is the stream skipping or dropping? Most of the time it's not you OR us, it's a problem in the pipeline in between. Make sure your connection speed is fast enough - check your player's Advanced windows for a display of what's coming through. It could be a local network problem or something larger - You can check your connection speed at speakeasy.net/speedtest/.
I'm just seeing a bunch of text, it doesn't launch the player. Clear out your browser history/browser cache - Look under Tools -> Internet 'Options' -> Clear Temporary Internet Files or Private Data/Cache.
