We've heard from Philly and Newark - now it's Louisville's turn! Kyle Meredith from WFPK steps up to the mic to talk with Rita Houston about his work as a DJ, his goal to create radio that's an experience instead of "background, wallpaper music", and which quiet song is speaking loudly to him these days. Check out the conversation below.
Meet Kyle Meredith:
Like most folks in radio, Kyle Meredith wears many hats. He is the music director of WFPK in Louisville, KY, as well as the host of The Weekly Feed - a syndicated weekly aggregator of music blogs buzz, currently heard in 20 markets. Named FMQB's "Non-Comm Music Director of the Year" in 2011, he can also be seen in the pages of NYLON Guys magazine where he writes a Weekly Feed feature.
An industry veteran, Meredith started in radio in 2000 at WLRS, spent five years as a record promoter and returned to the mic in 2008 for WFPK. When not at festivals, he currently spends his nights with his four-year-old son, happily drinking tea.
