Lady Madonna by Booker T is a great cover.

Eschewing the hundreds of great Booker T performances, here are 2 less obvious ones…

In the early 80’s Booker T released a wonderful R&B solo album featuring himself on vocals. “I Want You” was a minor hit and a great song.

Ten years before that, he produced one of the great songs of all time, Bill Withers “Ain’t No Sunshine”.

Booker T, Duck Dunn, Steve Cropper….What’s the difference what you play? It’s all good..

I found the Booker T. Set on Vinyl recently..

    “It’s Your Thing”

Booker T and The MG’s was the backup band for “Bob Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Concert Celabration” they were great throughout but you can really hear Booker T’s contribution on John Mellen Cougarcamp’s version of ” Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat” —

    Booker T & the MGs –

For me, there will always be –

    “Green Onions”

    “Time is Tight”

(And, Anything & EVERYTHING from “McElmore Avenue” – (Especially “Golden Slumbers”)!

It’s Neil Young’s birthday too. So what would be better than Neil with Booker T & the MG’s at the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert playing All Along The Watchtower!

    Here are my picks:
    1. Bill Withers, “Aint No Sunshine”
    2. Soul Asylum, “Runaway Train”
    3. Booker T & the MGs “Jingle Bells” (from the “In the Christmas Spirit” album)

Pretty please consider Al Green – What A Wonderful Thing Love Is, or Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye. Both songs have really deep meaning. Anything Sam Cooke will do as well.
