The Bottomless Pit With Marshall Crenshaw For March 15

by Marshall Crenshaw
A A
Cover of Robert Gordon's 'Respect Yourself: Stax Records and The Soul Explosion'

The story of the life and times (and death) of Stax Records is a huge, powerful American story, and it's told the way it needs to be told in a great new book, Respect Yourself: Stax Records and The Soul Explosion, by Memphis-based author Robert Gordon. Robert's one of the best music writers around, probably my favorite, and this book is another killer from him. On most of this Saturday's "The Bottomless Pit" at 10, I'll be plugging this book and playing the music of Stax Records, as much as I can fit.

We'll also hear some nearly brand new tracks from Gregory Porter, and from another favorite of "The Bottomless Pit," Regina Carter.

Please join me tonight on "The Bottomless Pit," every Saturday at 10pm EST, on 90.7FM WFUV and streaming online.

You can also find The Bottomless Pit in the FUV archives for up to two weeks after broadcast.
