Fiona Apple: Live Flashback and Album Preview

by Sarah Wardrop

Back in March, Fiona Apple played the opening set of a SXSW showcase put together by our friends at NPR Music, but... it wasn't part of their live broadcast. Understandable, given her lengthy time away from performing and recording, but it didn't make reading all of the "omg" tweets from people at the show any easier! So here's part one of the good news: you can now hear some of the show online.

Part two of the good news, is that we're closing in on the June 19th release of Fiona's new album: The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do. Yup, it's another title to ponder from Fiona, but while you're doing that, you can also preview a few songs from the album, listen to highlights from that SXSW set, and check out a video I came across earlier this year. It's just shot from the crowd, but it's Fiona along with Chris Thile and John Brion out at Largo in LA, doing a killer, acoustic version of "Fast As You Can."

Welcome back Fiona...
