If hearing bands perform live on Words & Music from Studio A isn't enough for you, FUV will be bringing you even more live music this summer. Wait... it isn't even summer yet. I guess we're getting a head start!
Tune in for nothing but live songs on FUV this Memorial Day, with the grand finale of Alabama Shakes, recorded live at The Bowery Ballroom. And, that's just the first show on the list of what's ahead in the next two weeks...

Alabama Shakes continues to take the music world by storm with their debut album Boys & Girls, and the raw, raucous soul of their live show. They just spent two nights opening for Jack White here in NYC, but back in April, they were in town for a record release show at The Bowery Ballroom. FUV was there to hit record (with permission) and Alisa Ali also caught up with the band backstage. Can't wait 'til Monday night? Check out the full show and Take Five with Alabama Shakes.

Cory Chisel worked with Brendan Benson to make his 2009 album Death Won't Send a Letter, and in an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" move, they team up again for Chisel's new batch of songs. The album is called Old Believers and it's due out on June 26th, so we'll get a preview of the songs when Cory takes the stage at City Winery. Plus, we're adding another songwriter-to-watch to the mix, with Bhi Bhiman opening the show.

Regina Spektor's new album, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, is out on May 29th, but you can hear the whole thing now, thanks to a First Listen from our friends at NPR Music. On Thursday night, we join those same friends to bring you Regina's show from Le Poisson Rouge—a slightly smaller setting than her recent gigs opening for Tom Petty or playing to a packed house at the United Palace Theatre...

Songwriting isn't the only writing Shawn Colvin has been up to, so in addition to releasing her new album, All Fall Down, she's publishing a memoir, Diamond In The Rough. Both are due out on June 5th, and so she's headed to City Winery on "release day eve" for a special FUV Live performance.

It's already been a big year for Jimmy Cliff, with performances at SXSW and Coachella, the release of his Sacred Fire EP — and a visit to FUV. Now the reggae icon adds to that list by kicking off this year's Celebrate Brooklyn season on June 5th, and FUV and NPR Music will be bringing the whole show to the radio.
