The FUV Live at CMJ 2013 showcase last night was everything that we had hoped for -- and more. Thanks to all you who came down to Rockwood Music Hall or joined us online and on the radio to hear one of the first official showcases of this week's CMJ Music Marathon. Missed the broadcast? It will be in the FUV Vault shortly. (We have to sleep sometime.)
The evening kicked off with percussive pop powerhouse Lucius, celebrating the same-day release of their debut album Wildewoman. The sinewy guitar rock of Saint Rich, all Jersey swagger and nonchalance, followed. British singer-songwriter James Bay, who drove overnight from Minneapolis to make it to our showcase, impressed us with his intense acoustic set and lanky charm. The showcase wrapped — to a packed house — with a beautiful, subdued, stripped-down set from Claire, the German dance band's very first live gig in the United States.
Over the next day or so we'll have more from FUV Live from CMJ on the FUV and The Alternate Side blogs — the show itself, photos, setlists and more. We're thrilled that you had the chance to discover Lucius, Saint Rich, James Bay and Claire along with us. It was a very special night, wasn't it?
