UKNY On FUV For December 21 (The Mince Pie Edition)

by Kara Manning
A A

Never mind the balmy spring-like weather on this winter solstice. Tonight on UKNY at 11, we'll go wassailing with songs of the season from Tracey Thorn (pictured), Kate Bush, Laura Marling, Teenage Fanclub, Kate Nash and other festive folk.

Expect mulled wine, mince pies, some tears, some tinsel, a couple of thwarted romances, a promising love affair, a post-apocalypse Christmas carol and cranberries too.

That's UKNY, Saturday nights at 11p.m. EDT, following Vin Scelsa's "Idiot's Delight"® and Marshall Crenshaw's "The Bottomless Pit" on 90.7 WFUV, also streaming online.

Watching "It's A Wonderful Life" for the umpteenth time? You can find UKNY in the FUV archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
