Advocacy Group Provides Housing for Homeless Veterans

As Americans celebrate Veterans Day tomorrow, many veterans are struggling to find a permanent home.

Around 40,000 are homeless, and an organization called HELP USA wants to lower that number. Daniel Farrell of HELP USA said the lack of access to affordable housing, combined with issues like PTSD, lead to these high numbers, but he said the organization has a plan.

"Get the folks out of homelessness quickly; pay their rent to get them stable; and then, within that time period, work to increase income so that in the long term, after we start to phase out, the veteran is self-sufficent enough to pay his or her own rent," Farrell said.

The federal government said veteran homelessness has been cut in half since 2010.
