An environmenatl group releases results of its annual beach sweep report

Environmentalists are set to release the results of New Jersey's annual beach sweep.

Thursday's event will highlight the spectrum from the mundane to the unusual.

Clean Ocean Action last year counted 351,781 items of trash collected on more than 60 beaches from the tip of Cape May to the Raritan Bay shore.

Cigarette filters and plastics usually make up the most debris.

But it's the offbeat items that usually get the most attention. During previous sweeps, volunteers have found a Yoda doll head; a shopping cart; several whole lemons, an orange and a watermelon; a plastic policeman and a rubber fish.
