Billy Joel Announced as First-Ever Music Franchise at Madison Square Garden

Billy Joel will kick off his concerts on January 27, 2014.

Madison Square Garden will be in a "New York State of Mind" starting in January, with Billy Joel starting a new concert series at the venue.

A Bronx native now living on Long Island, Billy Joel says he's excited to be making his way back to the city. Joel has a history of success at the Garden, with 46 shows including 12 consecutive sold-out performances. "Billy Joel at the Garden" starts January 27, 2014 and will be performed once a month at MSG as long as fans keep coming back for more.

Governor Cuomo says this is a perfect match, and that Billy Joel and Madison Square Garden both define New York.

"Billy Joel is a New York treasure, and it is only fitting that he is playing at another New York tresure, the Garden."

With his first performance at MSG in 1978, Joel still says that "there is no better venue than the Garden."
