Brian Cashman Pregame Interview 7/03

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman spoke to a small group of reporters on the field prior to Monday night's game against the Blue Jays. Attached is audio of the full interview, and below are the highlights.

-Cashman is not worried about Judge and Sanchez in the Home Run Derby. “I want to be asked those questions” about Derby and All-Star Game. Means he’s doing his job.

-He’s excited about Domingo Acevedo and Estevan Florial in Futures Game. Said Acevedo is a “little Pineda.”

-He’d like to be “engaged” in trade market.

-They need better production out of first base. Headley is their third baseman.

-Greg Bird is still “struggling” and seeing more doctors. An exploratory surgery is possible just to figure out what's going on. He’s currently in New York.

-He’s “very much so” proud that four of the Yankees All-Stars are homegrown.

-Aaron Judge sent Damon Oppenheimer a message thanking him for drafting him and believing in him.

-He expects CC Sabathia and Adam Warren back tomorrow.

-After the same reporter asked Brian Cashman about Headley for a third time, he said “Who do you want me to play there? You got any alternatives? Bring it up. Other than that, Headley’s our third baseman. I’m sorry you don’t like it.”
