The Ten Tenors (cover of the group's new album, 'Wish You Were Here')

The THREE tenors were a handful! Outsized Pavarotti, pint-sized Carreras, Domingo in the middle, holding it together. The Ten Tenors?! They amp it up to eleven!

The Ten Tenors have been at it for 20 years now. The Australian ensemble usually harmonize on popular standards, classical chestnuts, and Christmas songs. But they also have a particular affinity for Freddie Mercury, having applied their vocal skills to “Bicycle Race” and currently on “We Are The Champions,” from their just-released Wish You Were Here, an album dedicated to many fallen heroes of pop.

That Pink Floyd song is the binding element that groups other compositions by Prince, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Leonard Cohen, and David Bowie. I’ll let you discover The Ten Tenors’ “Bee Gees Medley” and their take on “Dancing Queen” on your own. But “Wish You Were Here” is a fine point of departure for tonight’s radio "Cavalcade," which also weighs in with new offerings by Pearl Jam, Ray LaMontagne, and guitar wiz Bill Frisell.

Tonight’s show is instant-replayed in the Weekend Archives. Happy Spring!
