Congrats Rita Houston!
Please join us in celebrating the promotion of longtime host, interviewer and ultimate music fan Rita Houston to the position of Program Director for WFUV Public Radio.

Rita came to FUV in 1994, starting as our midday host. Several years later she became Music Director, and has since earned quite a reputation as a national tastemaker, winning national awards and earning the respect of her peers and grateful music lovers everywhere.
As host of The Whole Wide World with Rita Houston, she displays her wide-ranging taste in music and her gifts as an interviewer, with guests as different as Willie Nelson, Bjork, John Prine, Norah Jones, Aaron Neville, Feist, Leonard Cohen, Bjork, Lucinda Williams, Donald Fagen, Shelby Lynne, Tom Tom Club, k.d. lang, Conor Oberst, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Gomez, Tom Jones, Jakob Dylan, Indigo Girls, Karl Wallinger, Aimee Mann, Citizen Cope, Patti Smith, Emmylou Harris, Damien Rice, Stars, Ry Cooder, Gillian Welch and both Sam Phillipses (among many others), as well as hosting very early-career interviews with Adele, David Gray and Joss Stone.

WFUV is loaded with creative talent, both on and off the air, and I know that working together we'll find more and more ways to connect FUV listeners with the artists we love."
You can hear Rita on WFUV throughout the week in Words and Music and Take Five interviews, jumping in to guest host whenever she can, and of course every Friday night from 7-10pm as host of The Whole Wide World. The most recent two weeks' programs are always found in the WFUV Archives.
