Strains of British folk, indie pop, and prog rock all make their way into The Decemberists' sound, and on the band's latest album called The Crane Wife, songwriter Colin Meloy lets a Japanese folk tale lead the way.
In the band's latest Studio A visit, I got more of the background on the new songs, and The Decemberists performed the epic, three-part title track live.
