Fast Food Workers Rally for Better Working Conditions

Trump's nominee for labor secretary, Andrew Pudzer, has been a critic of raising the minimum wage for fast food workers. But these workers are trying to push for local reform in New York City before he's confirmed. Fast food workers are calling on the City Council to pass a package of bills that would create better working conditions for them. One bill would require fast food companies to give two weeks notice for any schedule changes and compensation for not giving enough notice.

Janice Brooks, who works at a Subway in Brooklyn, said this so-called "fair scheduling" should be a no-brainer.

"With the fair scheduling, you know what to do, and when you're working, and you can plan your life," she said.

Another bill in the package would require companies to offer their current employees extra hours before hiring someone else.
