Fordham Beats Holy Cross 47-41 in an Overtime Thriller

The Fordham Rams defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders by a final score of 47-41 in a overtime thriller at Jack Coffey Field in the Bronx. Chase Edmonds scored on a 7 yard rush in overtime that gave Fordham the walk off win this afternoon. With the win, Fordham improves to 6-1 on the season, 2-0 in Patriot League play.
Fordham fell behind of the Crusaders early on as they trailed by 10 twice in the first half and Kevin Anderson threw interceptions on each of the first two Rams possession, both were in the Red Zone. But behind 139 passing yards by Anderson in the first half, and 96 rushing yards by Edmonds in the first half, the Rams scored 20 unanswered points to finish off the first half and take a 27-20 lead to the locker room at halftime. The third quarter consisted of both teams trading touchdowns as they combined for five total TD's in the third quarter (Holy Cross with 3, and Fordham with 2) giving Fordham a 41-38 lead going into the final 15 minutes of the game. Both teams were held scoreless for the first 14:59 of the quarter, and Holy Cross connected on a 48 yard field goal to tie the game at 41 as time expired in the game. In overtime, Fordham won the toss and chose to go on defense first, and forced Holy Cross to miss a 36 yard field goal. Fordham then gave the ball to Chase Edmonds five straight times with the last touch resulting in the game winning touchdown.
The Rams next game will be next Saturday when they host the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks. Kick off is set for 1:00pm with the One on One pregame report starting at 12:50pm live on 90.7FM, wfuv.org, and wfuvsports.org
