Jimmy Cliff, Sigur Rós, St. Vincent, The National and Willie Nelson are just a few of the artists you've heard live on FUV from the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, and we added more great shows to the list this year.
The season kick-off happened on a chilly night, but the weather was no match for the soul-filled force and non-stop energy that Sharon and the band delivered. It was an honor and a thrill to have their performance air live on FUV, and you can now listen to it in the FUV Vault.
After co-producing his new album, Ouroboros, with Jim James, Ray translated its expansive sound onstage with the help of Jim's My Morning Jacket bandmates: Tom Blankenship, Patrick Hallahan, Bo Koster and Carl Broemel. Add an opening solo acoustic set, a backdrop of a glowing, full moon, the beautiful summer night, and this show was nothing short of magic.
This collaboration of Neko Case, k.d. lang and Laura Veirs brings together three incredibly unique voices and songwriters on a new album. Onstage the mutual admiration that runs through the trio and its band was refreshingly clear, mixing solo songs and covers with the new material, plus incredible harmonies and a lot of amusing banter too.
Big thanks to all of the musicians who took the stage at these shows, and to the BRIC crew for welcoming FUV back once again.
