From the FUV Vault: Divine Fits
Russ Borris Divine Fits as one of his Favorite FUV Sessions
For Words & Music this month, we're dipping into the FUV Vault to revisit some of our favorite sessions. My pick this week is our Divine Fits session from last September.
There was a lot of buzz surrounding the release of their debut record, A Thing Called Divine Fits. The band was seen as a bit of a supergroup since it included, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks. The band was much more that a marquee of big names though. Their propulsive tapestry of drums and synths overlaid with hooky guitars and gritty vocals proved that the sum of their parts was indeed something special.
Their debut album, A Thing Called Divine Fits was one of my favorite releases of 2012 and their live performance in Studio A was outstanding. I was also really pleased that they chose Black Sabbath as their guest DJ Pick!
We'll air this session tonight at 9, but you can listen to it anytime by dipping into the FUV Vault yourself.
Divine Fits also played our SXSW show last March. Here's some video from that.
You can also check out Divine Fits at The Governors Ball Music Festival this June, here in NYC.
