Governor Cuomo Partners with Corporations to Provide Meals to New Yorkers

Cuomo teamed up with Walmart, PepsiCo and FreshDirect to provide 3,000 meals to New York families.

With hard economic times and federal cuts to the food stamp program, many New York families are going hungry,

This is why Governor Cuomo teamed up with Walmart, PepsiCo and FreshDirect to ensure 3,000 families in need will get a meal come Thanksgiving.  These meals will be boxed by the New York National Guard, who will then deliver them to food banks across the state.

Governor Cuomo says these donations come at a very crucial time for New Yorkers.

"There are many new yorkers who are suffering. The economy has been difficult [...] and people are literally hungry. About 13% of people in this state go to bed hungry at night and it's actually gotten worse as of late...federal government has cut back on the SNAP (food assitance) program by about 15%."

New Yorkers looking to donate or volunteer should visit www.foodbankassocnys.org to find their local  food bank.
