The folk-country-blues songs of Justin Townes Earle showcased his talent (which he came by honest, via his father Steve) and his individual spirit, which inhabited the soul of a troubled troubador. His nine releases and his constant touring earned him a legion of fans, the respect of his peers and some coveted Americana Music Awards. Earle's struggles with addiction were mighty, but he brought smarts and humor to every challenge. He is missed by a tight Nashville community of songwriters, and by all of us at FUV.

Earle's last visit to Studio A was in 2017, a year that marked the tenth anniversary of his debut, Yuma. Earle released album number seven, Kids In The Street, marking a turning point in his career: a collection of songs that's loaded with firsts.

Earle returned to Studio A armed with some fantastic new songs, and he talked to DJ Carmel Holt about some of those firsts: fatherhood, working with a producer, recording outside of Nashville, sobriety, and moving to the Pacific Northwest.
