In the spirit of music discovery which guides WFUV, our DJs offer their favorite new artists on the cusp of making it to the next level.

LOLO, a 29-year-old recording artist from Jackson, Tennessee, originated the character of Ilse in the Broadway musical Spring Awakening at age 18. That led to a record deal for her 2010 debut album, Wasted in Jackson, under her given name, Lauren Pritchard.

Somehow that album didn’t quite capture the grit and soul of her true sound. So she adopted the name LOLO and in 2016 released In Loving Memory of When I Gave a Shit. It’s got a candor and directness that will grab you and have you looking for more.
