Maggie Rogers in a WFUV Concert at Electric Lady Studios

It’s easy to categorize Maggie Rogers as an overnight success. Last year, an NYU Master Class video of Rogers' song "Alaska" got a big reaction from Pharrell Williams and went viral to the tune of over two million views. In just months she went from college grad to a major label recording artist, playing late night TV shows and embarking on a sellout tour.

Although just in her early twenties, Maggie has already been writing and recording music for a decade, starting her musical training as a child in rural Maryland. So, unlike many fabricated pop stars with a meteoric rise, Rogers is building on a lifetime of musicianship and her unique connection with the natural world.

Her major label debut EP is called Now That The Light Is Fading, and in this special FUV Live at Electric Lady Studios — blocks away from the very NYU building where it all began — she shared her songs and story with us.
