Two-thirds of the lineup for the September 15 On Your Radar joined me for a session in Studio A. While Massachusetts native Mark Allen Berube came to New York to study theater at NYU, he found himself drawn to the open mics at the Fast Folk Cafe. His theatrical training is useful, though; instead of writing plays he's writing witty songs populated by colorful characters. He and his wife, Carolann Solebello (a founding member of Red Molly) are longtime residents of Brooklyn.

Lovers League is a duo formed by two active members of the Philly folk scene, Reverend TJ McGlinchy (a Universal Life Church minister) and Dani Mari (who's since migrated to Brooklyn). While they both are involved in other projects as well, Lovers League is a perfect fit for TJ's bluesy guitar playing and Dani's pop-flavored melodies, held together with tasty harmonies.
