Mark Erelli, has a well-earned reputation as a songwriter (covered by Red Molly, Lizz Wright, and others) and sideman (guitarist for Josh Ritter, Lori McKenna, et al.), but his new album, Mixtape, is a showcase for his vocal talents. Produced by fellow Bostonian Zachariah Hickman, it's a collection of favorite covers, growing out of Erelli's annual concerts at Club Passim.

In this return visit to the "Sunday Supper" Erelli reminisces about the lost art of making cassette mixtapes, discusses the role of the Grateful Dead as a "gateway band," and recounts the challenge of recording "Crying." Erelli does justice to that Roy Orbison classic and the Band's "Ophelia" in his Studio A performance.
