Mark Knopfler - Words and Music - 2009

For a man that's sold over one hundred million albums, it is not all that surprising that Mark Knopfler has his hands in one hundred million musical projects. His fingerstyle guitar playing is so distinctive that Rolling Stone has ranked him as the "27th best" guitarist of all-time, and Fender puts out a Mark Knopfler model of its Stratocaster guitar.

After two decades as Dire Straits' frontman, Mark has gone onto a busy solo career as a singer-songwriter, producer and film score composer. He told me that playing the guitar is all about battling your fingers, and he hopes he won that battle on his most recent album, Get Lucky.
