New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has unveiled his plan for the city's 2017 budget.  The mayor is hoping to tackle a wide range of issues.

His $82 billion budget would invest millions in city hospitals and schools, and would create a new police precinct in Queens.

The Mayor said, "We are focused on strategic investments in every neighborhood, and in continuing disciplined financial and fiscal managment that we believe is the pathway to the kind of results we need for our people."

The Mayor's budget would also allocate over $8 million for improved mental health services on Rikers Island.  Even with the increased investments, the mayor said the budget would save the city over a billion dollars.  The City Council has until the end of June to approve the spending plan.
