Morning Brief: August 19

There was buzz around a new drug some months ago, but now the FDA has officially approved what's been dubbed the "female Viagra." But that moniker isn't exactly  accurate: unlike the male drug, Addyi targets neurotransmitters in the brain and needs to be taken daily to have effect. Some are lauding the approval as a big step forward for gender equality, while others say the FDA made a mistake. The opposition thinks the many risks outweigh the benefits, and that there's a reason the FDA didn't approve the drug twice before.
