Recently in New York City, there have been numerous crime incidents related to knife stabbings in the city’s subway system. Yesterday, a man was slashed in the face on the No. 3 train in Brooklyn. So far, there have been nine stabbings and slashings in January. Compared to this time last year, the city has seen a 20 percent increase in stabbings and slashings underground. But NY Daily News reports that Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said, ““This is New York and occasionally the media and police get focused on a series of incidents, and that’s what happened here.” He says a more concerning issue on the subway is pickpocketing.
