Morning Brief: May 7

Mayor de Blasio's set to announce his executive budget for the city today, but we already have an idea of some of its major components. He's expected to commit $100 million to combat homelessness, while funding for the city's suicide hotline looks like it's going to be slashed. Another big issue comes with MTA funding, which de Blasio's expected to give $657 million over the course of 5 years, more than in past budgets. But the transit authority, which still has a whopping $14 billion budget hole, recently asked for more even money from the city.
