Candidates to debate under the TV lights.

134 years ago today, famous New Jerseyan Thomas Edison tested the first practical light bulb. Tonight, New York City’s two mayoral candidates will be duking it out under the bright lights in their second debate.

Latest polls show Bill de Blasio maintaining a huge lead over Joe Lhota. With the election two weeks away, this debate may be one of the last chances Lhota gets to convince voters to come to his side.

TODAY'S HISTORY
On this day in 1883, the Metropolitan Opera House opened on 39th St. and Broadway in New York City with a performance of Gounod's Faust.  The Metropolitan Opera moved to its home at Lincoln Center in 1966 and the old Opera House was demolished.
